Logistics Material Handler

Purpose: Transport product, material, etc. between facilities. Deliver finished product to client(s).

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Safely transporting products and materials to and from specified locations in a timely manner
    – Ensure the load is properly secure at all times
    – Ensure any proprietary material is not visible
  • Loading and unloading of products and materials
  • Adjusting travel routes to avoid traffic congestion or road construction
  • Promptly informing the company of any tickets issued against the company vehicle during work hours
  • Ensuring that the company vehicle is always parked in areas that permit parking in order to avoid towing
  • Keeping the company vehicle clean and vehicle maintenance
    – Report any maintenance issues to
    – Schedule maintenance with supervision
    – Maintaining fuel levels and receipts
    – Notify management of annual inspection and registration
  • Providing accurate time records of the company vehicle’s coming and goings
  • Reporting any accidents, injuries, and vehicle damage to management

Inventory/S&R:

  • Perform receiving, storage, picking, checking, and loading duties in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
  • Assist with material kitting
  • Assist with storage of material
  • Perform transactions necessary to maintain accurate records and inventory balances
  • Operate various warehouse equipment to include pallet jack, forklift, etc.
  • Maintain equipment including safety checks
  • Comply with all applicable safety procedures and report unsafe conditions or potential safety hazards to Team Leader or appropriate resource
  • Maintain a clean, safe and organized work area
  • Notify Team Leader or other appropriate resource when problems arise concerning equipment, operations, materials, inventory, documentation, etc.
  • Raise any product quality concerns
  • Participate actively as a team member through continuous improvement activities to meet customer needs

Production:

  • Other duties as assigned by management such as assisting other departments as needed

Regular Hours of Work:

  • Normally 7:00AM – 4:00PM, Mon-Fri; Weekends and Holidays as scheduled by Management.

  • Non-Exempt, Full Time

Education & Experience Required:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Clean driving record
  • Sound knowledge of road safety regulations
  • Working knowledge of local roads and routes
  • The ability to utilize maps, GPS systems, and car manuals
  • Effective communication and computer skills
  • Previous S&R experience advantageous
  • Punctual and reliable

Work may require the ability to operate material handling equipment (forklift, pallet jacket, etc.) in a safe manner. While performing the duties of this job, employees may work around variable noise levels or with fume or airborne particles, hazardous chemicals, etc. requiring the use of personal protective equipment such as face protection (safety glasses, goggles, etc.), gloves, and hearing protection. Work duties may also be required to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer and/or the ability to travel by air or auto. This position may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization. Some positions entail working with small parts/components. Employees must have excellent hand-eye coordination and good manual dexterity in both hands. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
